ADJE holds educational seminars, workshops and events that
support the sport of purebred dogs in an environment of respect
and sportsmanship. ADJE Seminars and Workshops are open to
prospective judges, breeders and exhibitors.

Location – Arizona State Fairgrounds, Veterans Memorial Coliseum, 1826 W McDowell Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85007 in conjunction with the Heart of the Desert Classic (HODC) hosted by Sahuaro State Kennel Club and Lost Dutchman Kennel Club; www.onofrio.com, February 4 – February 8, 2027.

Airport – Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) located in Phoenix is the suggested airport. There are other regional airports
but PHX is in the heart of the metropolitan area and only four miles from the Fairgrounds and Host Hotel.

Lodging and Transportation – ADJE suggests lodging at the Crowne Plaza, 4300 E. Washington St., Phoenix, AZ 85034; reservations, (602) 273-7778. The Crowne Plaza provides complimentary shuttle service to and from Sky Harbor International Airport for its guests. The Crowne Plaza is a full service hotel with food service available from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. HODC provides complimentary early morning and late afternoon shuttle service to and from the show site for ADJE participants staying at the Crowne Plaza. A list of other suggested hotels is published in the Sahuaro State Kennel Club and Lost Dutchman Kennel Club Premium Lists. Reserved RV Parking will be available through the HODC; details in the Premium List.

Parking – Parking on the Arizona State Fairgrounds property is $13.00/per entry for passenger vehicles. Refer to the Cluster Premium List for full details and to order discounted parking passes.

Food – There are food vendors at the show site with food available for lunch; no restrictions on bringing in outside food except no deliveries directly onto Fairgrounds property. The area east of the Fairgrounds has multiple eateries but it is not within easy walking distance. Complimentary bottled water and coffee will be available in the classroom. Box Lunches maybe offered, information regarding ordering, options and cost will be updated as the information becomes available.  

Ringside Observation – A list of AKC Parent Club approved mentors will be emailed to participants and available at the Club Administration Table in the Coliseum. Participants are responsible for contacting Mentors to arrange for Ringside Observation. ADJE volunteers will be available to assist observers and distribute forms when needed.

Seminar and Workshop CEUs & Capacity – Seminar and Workshop capacity is 20 CEU participants. A wait list will be used if needed. AKC Sanctioned for two Component Educational Units (CEUs) for each combined breed Seminar/Workshop and one CEU per Seminar without a Workshop. Per AKC, no CEUs for Workshop only.

Tourism – As you make your plans for visiting the Valley of the Sun, check out the Arizona Official State Visitor’s Guide available at no charge by submitting a form at: https://www.visitarizona.com/plan/travel-guide/ . The hard copy packet includes a full sized Arizona state map and takes 7-10 days to be delivered. If you have questions about travelling within Arizona, there are Arizona travel counselors available at (866) 275-5816. The ADJE website has other links to information on Arizona

 

Lunches:

The following will be delivered to the ADJE Classroom by 1:15 p.m.

  • Deli Sandwich (Ham or Turkey) with lettuce, tomato and dressing served with a large homemade cookie, bag of chips, water; $22.00.
  • Salad, dressing on side, water. $22.00

The following is self-order at the Ranch Food Truck in vendors row; present pre-paid voucher for special meal rate;  available beginning at 11 a.m.:

  • Ranch food truck,  entree (6 choices), side (3 choices), in-house baked cookie, and a fountain drink , $22.00

The following is served from 11:30 a.m. through 1:30 p.m. in the Judges Dining Room in Veterans Memorial Coliseum:

  • Hot meal; includes entre, side vegetables, dessert, drink (menu to be determined); $45.
